Taifuuni Sinlaku pysäytti lentoliikenteen 13. syyskuuta, vain osa junista oli kulussa. Ihmisiä oli varoitettu pysymään sisällä. Tästä huolimatta oli pakko päästä Taipeihin katsomaan pääsisikö kasvitieteelliselle. Kuva kasvitieteellisen edustalta.
All flights and most trains had been cancelled on 13th of September because of typhoon Sinlaku. People had been were warned to stay inside. Despite this I had an urge to try to get to the Botanical Garden. Picture in front of the garden.
Taksilla liikkuminen oli kätevää ja edullista. Iso oksa putosi taksin katolle illalla, mutta se vain säikäytti. Using taxis was handy and prices were reasonable. A big branch fell on the taxi roof at night but that only scared a bit.

Yritysten suuret ikkunat oli suojattu teipeillä. The large windows of companies were protected with tapes.

Ravintolan ikkunoiden suojausta illalla 12. syyskuuta. Taping of restaurant windows evening 12th of September.

Hiekkasäkkejä oli laitettu hotellin ravintolassa oven luo estämään veden tulvimista sisälle. Sand bags in the hotel restaurant in front of the door to stop water coming in.

Kyltti Taipein kasvitieteellisen portilla kertoi varmaankin syyn. En päässyt tämän pidemmälle, vettä satoi kaatamalla ja oksia putoili puista. A sign at the gate of the Taipei Botanical Garden told why the gate was closed. I could not get in, it was pouring rain and branches fell from trees.

Kasvitieteellisen kartasta päättelin, että olin oikeassa paikassa, mutta vain väärään aikaan. From the garden map I could conclude that I was at the right place but only at wrong time.

Pääsin sentään kurkistamaan kasvitieteelliseen aidan raosta. At least I could take a peek look into the botanical garden through a gap in the fence.

Ruukussa kasvava Ixora casei 'Super King' oli teipattu ennen taifuunin tuloa. A potted Ixora casei 'Super King' had been taped before the typhoon arrived.
